Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) barely escaped being turned into a vampire cannibal in Season 5, Episode 10 (“Fifty Shades of Grayson”) of The Vampire Diaries when Dr. Wes almost stabbed her with his super serum. It was a crazy close call, but the fang gang isn’t out of the woods just yet. Aaron Whitmore (Shaun Sipos) made off with the serum. What is the melancholic orphan planning on using it for? Will he be the next Big Bad? We speculate below!

Turn Elena into a cannibal

Elena may have just temporarily dodged a bullet. Though she and Aaron were kinda, sorta friends, Aaron is not feeling too kindly towards vamps right about now. He just discovered a vampire — namely Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) — was responsible for the death of his parents. He almost shot Elena for it in Season 5, Episode 9 (“The Cell”). We doubt he’s going to change his mind about vampire anytime soon — especially if he finds out Elena staked his ex-roomie, Jesse. To make matters worse, Elena is the optimistic sentimental type, which means if Aaron wants to lure her into a trap with talk of reconciliation, then she’ll probably go.

Turn Damon into a cannibal

On the other hand, why go after Elena when Damon is the one responsible for making Aaron an uber orphan — not only has the elder Salvatore killed Aaron’s parents, but most of his family line (in retaliation for being tortured for five years as an Augustine vamp). What’s a better form of retaliation than making Damon a hazard to everyone he loves? He wouldn’t be able to spend time around his own brother or the woman he loves for fear of killing them. We have to admit: This would make for one killer storyline. We kind of hope it happens.

Team up with Enzo

We doubt Aaron could handle being the next Big Bad alone — but add a clever Italian vampire with a grudge, and he might have a chance of making a credible stand against our TVDers. Right now, Enzo hates just about everyone — but his anger with Damon for leaving him to burn in Whitmore House in the ‘50s seems to supercede the anger directed at the Augustine Society itself. Which is kind of weird, but to each tortured vampire his own. Might Aaron approach Enzo with a proposition: Turn vampire cannibal and you will be able to exact your revenge on Damon and everyone he loves. The serum not only makes vampires thirst for vampire blood, but makes them super strong. Stronger than the 150-year-old Salvatore brothers, at least. Yikes!

Turn himself into a vamp

How far would Aaron go to get revenge for his family? Right now, he seems desperate enough to do just about anything. Would he turn himself vampire, then take the serum in order to get back at Damon and friends? It seems a little drastic, but this kid has systematically seen everyone he cares about killed off. And been lied to by the one person left alive in his life, his legal guardian, Dr. Wes. We think Aaron might be ready to snap.

What do you think Aaron will do with the serum? Sound off in the comments below!
