Freshman year isn’t exactly going according to plan for Caroline Forbes on The Vampire Diaries. Her bestie Elena killed her campus crush Jesse, an incident that sparked some unresolved issues between the BFFs — mainly, Caroline’s distaste for Damon, Elena’s boyfriend. But it looks like things are going to starting turning around for our Vampire Barbie when school is back in session.

According to a recent Season 5 spoiler, a new hottie named Luke is enrolling at Whitmore, and he’ll be spending a lot of time with Caroline. But this isn’t going to turn into a new campus fling, which is probably a good thing for Care Bear, because she doesn’t have the best track record with men at the moment. It turns out “handsome and sarcastic” Luke is gay. We always thought Caroline needed a G.B.F. to keep her in check. (Sorry ‘bout it, Elena!)

So what kind of misadventures are Caroline and Luke going to get themselves into? Well, we’re pretty sure Luke’s sister will play a part in all the drama. According to E! Online, Luke “will do (or sacrifice) anything to protect” his sister, who also happens to be on campus, because of course she is!

We’re wondering what Luke and his sister are hiding. Are they vampires? Are they werewolves? Are they hunters? Is she a powerful witch? Do they have connections to the Augustine Society? Is Caroline is serious trouble? Are they the reason Klaus comes back to Mystic Falls? With so many questions, our heads are already spinning with possibilities. While we’re hoping Luke can be trusted (because Caroline really does deserve a drama-free semester), this is The Vampire Diaries, and every newbie is shady until proven otherwise.

What do you think, TVD fans: Can Luke be trusted? What do you think he and his sister are hiding? Sound off in the comments!
