Traveler vampire Nadia (Olga Fonda) has stealthily come onto The Vampire Diaries scene in Season 5. But what is Katherine’s daughter up to? With a genetic predisposition for scheming and backstabbery, is there more to Nadia than meets the eye? Is she hiding something?

Yes. She has a Traveler agenda

We know Katherine Pierce can be persuasive and everything, but it always seemed a bit suspicious to us that after 500 years of loathing her mother Nadia joined Team Katherine so easily. Did she really come to Mystic Falls to find her mother, or was it part of a greater Traveler agenda? To be honest, we’re super wary of this ancient subsect of witches who have barely revealed any of their master plan. They said they wanted to kill Silas and Katherine, but they have to have broader ambitions than that, right? (It would be amazing if they were somehow allied with the Augustine Society, aka the other Big Baddies in Season 5.) Could Nadia be using her familial relationship with Katherine to get closer to the TVDers for some nefarious purpose? All we’re saying is after four seasons of supernatural schemer coming to Mystic Falls to cause havoc we would check Nadia’s story out.

No. She just wants to save her mother

On the other hand, the reveal that Nadia is Katherine’s daughter has been one of our favorites of the season. Sure, it’s a bit soap operatic, but it also acts to humanize Katherine’s character, which has been the most successful theme of the season. We actually wish this mother-daughter dynamic got more play, and it sounds like it will! The 100th episode seems set to explore Katherine and Nadia’s tragic backstory. A young actress has been cast to play a child version of Nadia. Bring on the tears, TVD. And we’ll try to stop doubting Nadia’s potentially noble intentions.

Do you think Nadia is who she seems, or do you think she is hiding something? Sound off in the comments below!
