We knew the 100th episode of The Vampire Diaries was going to bring back a few familiar faces, but we never expected to see Klaus show up to bid adieu to Katherine. After all, it’s not like these two have been besties for the past 500 years. But, it looks like the big bad hybrid might be returning to Mystic Falls for the milestone episode — and he’s headed straight for Caroline.
While we can’t confirmed this exciting bit of Klaroline news — Julie Plec and the CW have it under lock and key — if you take a look at the episodic photos found here, Caroline and Klaus definitely have a meet up in the woods. There’s also an Australian promo floating around the internet that shows Klaus and Caroline kissing (!!), and more importantly, Caroline is the one initiating the kiss.
Again, we can confirm the news, but it does match up with the information we already know. According to the synopsis for Season 5, Episode 12 ("The Devil Inside"), "Caroline makes a stunning confession to Elena, then has to face the consequence of her actions with Stefan and Tyler." Could this “stunning confession” be her and Klaus’s kiss? We think so, especially is she has to “face the consequences of her actions with Stefan and Tyler.” Stefan and Tyler both have their reasons to despise Klaus, and more importantly, they both love Caroline, so naturally, they would be the most upset by this kiss.
Back in December, Julie Plec told reporters that the 100th episode of The Vampire Diaries was “for the fans.” And we can’t think of a better way for Julie Plec to honor the fans than by giving one of the most passionate TVD fandoms what they’ve wanted since Season 3: a Klaroline kiss. Klaus and Caroline have always had a lot of chemistry, and truthfully, Season 5 just hasn’t been the same without it.
Now, if Klaus and Caroline to kiss in the 100th episode — and that’s still an if at this point — how will this affect TVD and The Originals? Klaus hasn’t been in the best mood down in NOLA, with his brother Elijah forming alliances with his frenemy Marcel and his sister Rebekah conspiring against him. Oh, and then there’s his baby mama Hayley who can’t stand to be in the room with him for more than five minutes. Perhaps the Klaroline kiss will spark a sense of hope for Klaus. (Because he’s really going to need it when he returns to the French Quarter to find a sinister new spirit threatening his empire.)
As for Caroline, well, maybe this will help bring her back down to earth and restore her friendship with Elena. If Caroline can fall for Klaus, then maybe she can start to understand how Elena fell for Damon. Let’s face it: our Care Bear has been in a rut lately, and we’d like to see her cheeriness again.
Now, we’re not quite sure this kiss will make Klaus and Caroline “a thing” officially, but we hope it ignites what we’ve always seen on screen — chemistry. We don’t need to see Klaus and Caroline together right now, but it would be nice to know that they were thinking about one another. (We know Klaus is savvy when it comes to texting.) Could this be the start of a pen pal relationship?
Kiss or no kiss, we’re just happy to see these two on screen together again. If only Caroline would move to New Orleans already — we’re sure there’s a drama school somewhere in the Quarter.
What do you think, TVD fans: Will Klaus and Caroline kiss? Are you excited for the 100th episode? Sound off in the comments!
