The 100th episode of The Vampire Diaries promises to be an emotional roller coaster of unexpected twists and fan-pleasing moments, but will one of those moments be the hookup between Caroline (Candice Accola) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) we’ve all been waiting for? Certain episode promos and vague synopses descriptions seem to hint at the possibility, but it is still very much up in the air. Guys, is Klaroline finally happening?

Yes — They’re totally hooking up in the 100th episode

Let’s detail the evidence, shall we?:

  1. The episode synopsis tells us that Caroline “indulges in a little scandalous behavior.”

  2. The synopsis for the subsequent episode: "Caroline makes a stunning confession to Elena, then has to face the consequence of her actions with Stefan and Tyler."

  3. We know that there will be familiar faces in the 100th episode, and that Klaus is set to make a return to Mystic Falls soon.

  4. This Australian promo that has Caroline leaning towards Klaus for a kiss. (Be still our beating hearts.)

Pretty convincing, wouldn’t you say? But, perhaps, the most convincing argument is Julie Plec’s insistence that this episode was written for the fans. What better way to honor the fans than to give us an incendiary kiss for the slow-burning fan-favorite relationship?

No — The timing isn’t right

We don’t actually see Klaroline lock lips in the Aussie promo, which means the much-speculated hookup could just as easily not happen. After all, there’s only so much room for character development between characters who currently star on two different shows. We’ve written before about why Klaroline might not work right now, and we still maintain that the timing for this relationship needs to be right. Maybe that time isn’t now.

Kind of — They’ll hook up, but they won’t get together

The most likely of options seems to be somewhere in the middle of these “yes” or “no” options. We think Klaroline might actually hook up in the 100th episode whatever that means but how much will it really change? These characters are still on different shows, so this moment would be more about setting the stage for a future dare we say it permanent crossover, than launching a new storyline or relationship. But, for now, we’re totally OK with this compromise. Bring on the Klaroline!
