We know from these promo photos that Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) will be back in Mystic Falls for Season 5, Episode 12 of The Vampire Diaries, but what about the big 100th episode set to air this coming Thursday? Will Tyler be back for the milestone installment? We outline the evidence below.

He was on set while filming was happening.

Although Michael wouldn’t confirm whether he is or is not in the 100th episode, he was seemingly on set the episode was filming, which certainly seems to bode well for a Tyler appearance. In this E! Online article that focuses on the supporting male characters — Tyler, Matt, and Jeremy — Steven R. McQueen mentions: “Today is one of those rare days when we’re taking a full day to have us all in one scene, and that’s great. It’s a great experience to have us all together.” Later, he crashes Michael’s interview, so these two were definitely both there.

Many familiar faces set to return.

It’s hard to imagine an all-cast scene without Michael. Though he may only be a recurring character, he’s still much more a presence on TVD than other characters set to return for the ep, such as Aunt Jenna or even Klaus. We have been teased again and again that the 100th episode will include the return of many familiar faces — and Tyler is one of the most familiar we can think of.

Klaus is supposed to bring someone with him.

When we first learned of Klaus’ return to Mystic Falls, we also learned that he would bring someone back with him. We now know from this promo that said return will happen in the 100th episode, and Tyler is at the top of our list for potential travel companion. Sure, they hate one another, but he has to get out of the Klaus-controlled garden somehow, and it certainly explains the kiss Caroline is almost-planting on Klaus in this Australian promo. Is the potential Klaroline hookup instigated by Klaus’ safe return of Caroline’s ex-boyfriend?

He seems to know a lot about the episode.

Though Michael is irritatingly coy about the timeline of his return in this Zap2it article, he does seem to know a suspicious amount about the 100th episode: "I've heard there might be some familiar faces in the 100th episode," Michael said. "I mean, that's a milestone! You would try to incorporate as many people as you can. And as you know on 'The Vampire Diaries,' nobody's really dead. People are ghosts, there's flashbacks, so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw people from the past." We bet you wouldn’t be surprised, you discreet devil!
