After a game-changing episode like the 100th, we’re anticipating the next all-new episode of The Vampire Diaries more than ever. While we linger in the agonizing, week-long hiatus, here’s a roundup of what we know about Season 5, Episode 12 (“The Devil Inside”) so far.

Corpse wars.  It’s the aftermath of Katherine’s spell to hitch a ride in Elena’s body, and everyone wants Katherine’s corpse. In the promo for the episode, we see Nadia telling Katherine: “Once Mia does her spell, Elena will be gone forever, and this body will be yours for good.” Yikes! Luckily, Damon doesn’t want to seem to want to give Katherine’s corpse up -- for some reason. “You ain’t getting [the body],” Damon tells Nadia in the promo. But Nadia isn’t taking no for an answer. She shoves Damon into the wall with her ancient vampire strength, demanding: “Tell me where she is.”

Enzo is back! Our favorite rugby-loving vampire is back in Episode 12. We see him hanging around the Salvatore mansion in the promo photos and the synopsis tells us: “When Enzo brings Damon a gruesome present and insists that they bond by committing an act of revenge, Damon makes an effort to do the honorable thing.” Sounds like Damon is dangling precariously on the edge of morality.

Katherine-as-Elena. Katherine has had a lot of practice playing Elena over the last four season, which means it might be a bit before the other TVDers realize something is off. In the mean time, it sounds like Katherine will be playing games with the Salvatore brothers’ hearts. According to executive producer Julie Plec, “[Katherine]'s so into Stefan right now and so not into Damon right now, and yet Elena was about ready to re-embrace her relationship with Damon and Damon was all ready to win back his girl, so you can only imagine how that's going to go down.” For a visual representation of what Katherine-as-Elena breaking Damon’s heart might look like, check out the promo photos for the episode.

Damon goes “a little bit mental.” The results of Katherine’s shenanigans? Damon’s sanity. According to Julie, it’s not within Damon’s ability to handle “Elena”’s rejection with his head held high: “That's not the Damon we know and love. He will inevitable go a little bit mental. So we'll see how that plays out.” Yikes! Watch out, Mystic Falls!

Caroline confesses. In the wake of the steamy Klaroline hookup, Caroline spills the truth about her scandalous behavior to Elena. Only question is: Does she tell Elena, or Katherine-as-Elena? Whoever it is, it sounds like the other men in her life will find out about it. According to the synopsis,  Caroline will have to “face the consequence of her actions with Stefan and Tyler.” That’s not a conversation we would want to be a part of — watching it unfold, on the other hand?

Klaroline: is there hope? Speaking of Klaroline, will there be any movement on the romantic front for these two, or was that forest rendezvous really the last time we’ll see them together? In the short term, it seems like Klaroline is done.According to Julie: “This was more about giving that storyline the ending, I guess, for now at least, that it needed, that it didn't have yet.”

Kegger! What’s the best way to deal with all of the craziness that went down in Episode 11? A party, of course! According to the synopsis, “After finding himself in awkward and confusing conversations with Nadia, Matt impulsively decides to throw a party.” Only on TVD would getting knocked out and buried alive to be used as a motivator to your friends be categorizes as “awkward.” Anyhow, it looks like Matt is ready to drown his confusion in alcohol and, judging by the promo photos, his buddy Tyler is there to help.

Aaron turns over a new leaf. Been wondering what Aaron is up to? Yeah, us too, but, apparently, we’re going to catch up with the college-inheriting orphan in Episode 12. According to the synopsis, “Aaron does his best to make amends for his family’s past misdeeds and start a new life for himself.” Hmm… does this mean he won’t be stabbing that vampire cannibalism serum into any of our favorite characters? Seems like a missed opportunity.

Elena’s in danger... again. And it just wouldn’t be an episode of TVD without a near-death situation for our girl Elena. According to the synopsis, “Elena suddenly finds herself in a life-threatening situation with only minutes to figure out how to save herself.” We’re guessing this has something to do with the plot to burn Katherine’s corpse, somehow killing Elena’s essence with it? If so, yikes!
