It looks like we weren’t the only ones glues to our television screen during the 100th episode of The Vampire Diaries. Roughly 2.7 million people tuned in to watch Katherine not die, Klaroline hook up, and the entire gang engage in an impressive amount of day-drinking. But how well did the milestone episode exactly do in the ratings?

Really well, actually. Season 5, Episode 11 (“500 Years of Solitude”) delivered the series’ most watched installment since Season 5, Episode 7 (“Death and the Maiden”), which aired on November 14 of last year. The series’ rating amongst the women, ages 18-34 demographic was also at it highest since that ep. We’re going to call this ratings spike “The Klaus Bump.”

Perhaps even more impressive was the episode’s showing amongst teen watchers. The ep drew in its highest percentage of both female teens and total teens in almost a year (since Season 4, Episode 15: “Stand By Me,” which aired on February  21, 2013).

How do all of these numbers compare to the last episode of TVD, aka the mid-season finale? The 100th episode was up 10 percent in total viewers, a huge jump from Season 5, Episode 10 (“Fifty Shades of Grayson”). In the demographic breakdowns, the 100th episode was up 10 percent in adults 18-34; 21 percent in women 18-34; 14 percent in women 18-49; and up 36 percent amongst female teens. Basically, the 100th episode ruled all.

It even managed to finish second in its time slot in both women, 18-34 and female teens, with only Fox’s American Idol topping it. This is a big deal for a CW show; traditionally, the network cannot compete with “The Big Four” networks (CBS, ABC, NBC, and Fox) in the ratings.
