We can’t shake the feeling of lingering doom that currently lingers over The Vampire Diaries in the form of the nefarious Travelers, aka the nomadic witch clan of which Nadia is a part. Especially now that they have a few buckets of doppelganger blood to their credit. What is the Travelers’ plan?

Doppelganger blood

In the 100th episode, Nadia tricked Stefan and Elena into donating a bucket each of their doppelganger blood, which just so happens to be one of the more powerful substances in the magical community. This blood-letting was premeditated and super suspicious. Sure, perhaps they just need it to do the ritual that will give Katherine sole possession of Elena’s body, or it could be for something of a much larger scale.

Markos, the next Big Baddie

Rumor has it that The Vampire Diaries will soon be welcoming a new villain into the fold. His name is Markos, he hails from a faraway land, and he comes complete with a legion of loyal followers. Is it just us, or does that sound very Traveler-esque? If Markos is the leader of the Travelers and he is coming to Mystic Falls, that does not spell good news for our favorite fang gang.

The possible Bonnie connection

We can’t help but think that, whatever the Travelers have planned, it has to do with Bonnie, the current anchor to the Other Side. When Amara was the anchor, the Travelers kept her boxed up and always moving. They gave their lives to keep her from falling into anyone else’s hands because they feared the dropping of the veil to the Other Side. Will they try to capture Bonnie to keep her “safe”?

A possible alliance with Dr. Wes

We didn’t hear so much as a peep from Dr. Wes in the last episode, but don’t think the brilliant young microbiologist isn’t crafting his next anti-vampire research project, and we think he might have a prospective partner in the Travelers and their buckets o’ blood. Might the Travelers be on board with perfecting the vampire cannibal serum? Or does Dr. Wes have higher aims now perhaps, nothing less than the complete destruction of all vampires?
