Damon’s devilish former cellmate, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) was put on the backburner for The Vampire Diaries’ 100th episode, but he came back with a vengeance in Season 5, Episode 12 (“The Devil Inside”). And, from the looks of the extended promo for Season 5, Episode 13 (“Total Eclipse of the Heart”), he’s not going anywhere anytime soon! Read on for the breakdown of the 30-second trailer.

Everybody loves Enzo

OK, maybe not love, but everyone does seem to be talking about the former Augustine vamp in next week’s episode. At :01, we see Nadia (Olga Fonda) ask, “Who is Enzo?” Followed by shots of Katherine (Nina Dobrev) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) saying his name. Popular guy!

Stefan is not impressed

At :04, we see the man of the hour Enzo, himself extending his hand in greeting to Stefan. Man, even 60+ years of torture couldn’t completely rid Enzo of his manners. Stefan, on the other hand, is not above shunning such niceties. He ignores Enzo’s hand, instead turning to Damon (Ian Somerhalder) to ask, “What? You guys are pals again? Murder buddies?”

Damon and Enzo are murder buddies

From the looks of the promo, Damon and Enzo are going on a deadly rampage. At :08 and :09, we see two dead women. “Come on, Damon,” says Stefan whose apparent job in this episode is to frown at Damon. “You’re better than this.” Is he, though?

Damon likes his new self

Say what you will about Homicidal Damon, but the dude sure does seem to have fun. Damon disagrees with Stefan’s assessment of himself: “On the contrary: I’m better like this.” Enzo laughs. Yeah, these two are perfect for one another.

Jeremy’s in danger!

Little Gilbert should have stayed out of town. At :11, we see someone slip a plastic bag over Jeremy’s head while he’s hanging at the Salvatore mansion. Seriously, Damon? That better not be you! There’s killing people, and then there’s killing people you live with. You need to draw the line somewhere.

Another day, another dance

We’re guessing the episode’s title, “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” was a not-so-subtle reference to some sort of ‘80s-themed dance. And, whichever era the latest TVD shindig aims to celebrate, some sort of festivity is going down. At :14, we see Stefan dancing with “Elena” (read: Katherine). “What did Damon do now?” she asks. Easy on the annoyance, Katherine. Remember: Elena is still supposed to be in love with Damon. Maybe?

Bar fight!

It’s like Damon is trying to check off the items on some sort of Anti Hero scavenger hunt because, at :16, it looks like Denzo is getting into their very own bar fight. We see a random dude get thrown across the room, then a shot of Damon and Enzo looking defensively menacing. Next on the list: stealing candy from a baby.

Little brother to the rescue

Apparently, Stefan’s not waiting around for Damon to make the right decision about ditching his murder buddy. At :20, we see he and Enzo fighting in the Mystic Falls woods, and Stefan is totally winning. “Leave my brother out of it,” he tells Enzo. “What I do to you, Enzo, will be final.” Yikes! We hope this scene doesn’t end with another vampire in a quarry-soaked vault. We’re getting major Silas vibes from this scene.
