One of the best things about The Vampire Diaries is we get to see its cast in a variety of different roles. Whether they are playing slightly more homicidal versions of their main characters or completely different characters altogether in the form of a doppelganger, the TVDers are definitely wowing us. This is especially true for Paul Wesley, who has had the chance to play Hero Hair Stefan, Ripper Stefan, Amnesiac Stefan, and Silas in his five seasons of TVD — and that’s not even taking into about different flashback forms of the titular character. Of course, Ripper Stefan and Silas are arguably the most fun. Which role does Stefan prefer?

“That's a tough one but I think I gotta go with ripper,” Paul responded to a fan’s posing of the question on Mobio INsider. A solid response, and one we’d probably agree with given all of the time we’ve had to spend with Stefan’s not-so-sweet side. One of the strongest narrative sections of TVD, in our humble opinion, came in Season 3 when Ripper Stefan and Klaus joined forces to terrorize unsuspecting country folk in the name of advancing the hybrid cause (and having fun, obvi). There’s nothing like watching Stefan seriously struggle to control his bloodlust — and, often times, lose — to get the angst really going. And don’t even get us started on the scene in which Ripper Stefan calls Elena to not-wish her a happy birthday. The feels!

Silas was funny and he’s enjoyable to watch because we’re not as concerned about his immortal soul as Stefan’s, but that also makes him less interesting. We know Ripper Stefan is eventually going to wake up and smell the terrible, terrible atrocities he’s committed — and Hero Hair Stefan is going to feel really, really bad about it. Silas, on the other hand, is kind of a one-note character, defined completely by his love for Amara. He will do anything to reunite with is long-lost love and, that’s sweet and everything, but pretty darn predictable. Sorry, Si! We have to side with Paul on this one. Please don’t kill us…
