Vampire Diaries alum David Anders (John Gilbert) is making a return to the world of supernatural TV. This time, he’s trading in vampires for zombies, appearing in the pilot for The CW’s prospective series iZombie. Read on to hear all the gory details!

The CW is leaping on the zombie television bandwagon with their new supernatural crime procedural, iZombie. According to Deadline, the show will focus on Liv (to be played by Alexandra Krosney), a benevolent med student-turned-zombie who takes a job at the coroner’s office to gain access to the all-you-can-eat brain buffet that comes with it. Here’s the catch: for every brain she eats, she also gets the dead person’s memories. Bummer! Liv teams up with her medical examiner boss and a police detective to solve the murders of the peoples’ brain she’s eating. That probably helps with the angst.

Where does David come in? Well, he will be going back to his villainy roots (he was amazing as British baddie Sark in Alias). David will play Blaine, “an entitled rich kid who bites off more than he can chew in the drug business.” Will he be a total villain, or is there room for some of that conflicted anti-hero shtick David does so well? We’ll have to wait and see. Who knows if this pilot will make be picked up. Going off of the premise, it sounds like iZombie could either be ridiculously addicting or distractingly ridiculous. For David’s sake, we hope it’s the former!

Do you think iZombie sounds like a successful premise? Are you happy to hear David has landed a pilot? Sound off in the comments below!
