Kat Graham may play feisty witch Bonnie Bennett on The Vampire Diaries, but that’s only one one of her creative pursuits. She’s also a burgeoning musical artist. She released her debut EP Against the Wall with single video “Put Your Graffiti On Me” receiving over a million views on YouTube. As she continues to promote her EP and work on her upcoming album, Kat shares the experience with the fans in the “Breaking the Record” docu-series. Check out the first episode!

In the first three-minute installment of the Maker Music series, Kat dives into what “breaking the record” has been like so far and why she wants to document it for her fans: “My fans are really incredible. From their support from The Vampire Diaries to my days with Will.i.am. I have some incredibly loyal — fierce, but very sweet — fans,” Kat gushed in the first episode. “Sometimes I look at other artists and their fans are a little crazy. My fans are awesome, and they’re very outspoken. They’ve got this incredible sense of compassion to them. Because of them, this is why I’m doing this show. I wanted them to see all the things that they don’t get to see, that I really feel like they’re already a part of.”

The episode includes footage of Kat’s rehearsals, radio promotions, and performances, giving viewers a sneak peek into Kat’s life as a musical artist and her mindset, with Kat’s thoughts on the demands of the lifestyle: “When we did ‘Wanna Say’, when we were doing ‘Power’, all of these records needed so much support,” Kat explained. “We’re talking about radio support, support from the locals of just you know showing up and doing little gigs. Promotion is a huge part of getting a record successfully out and getting people to pay attention to you and getting people to hear the music and get them familiar with it, and really creating fans.”
