The Vampire Diaries seem to be turning more surreal than supernatural in this latest sneak peek at the TVD set. “I wonder where this leads. #tvd,” director Chris Grismer tweeted from the PLL set, along with the photo of a door standing on its own in the middle of a large room. Weird. But kind of cool?

So where does the door lead? Awesome suggestions abound in the Twitter comments: the Other Side, Narnia, an alternate reality that Travelers created where doppelgangers are kept prisoner. As much as we are pulling for those last two, we’re inclined to agree with the poster who thinks the door is a portal to the Other Side. Markos, the Traveler leader, just passed over from the supernatural purgatory, and we think there may be more to follow. You see, word on the street is that the Other Side is disintegrating and you know it has to be bad if Grams is getting nervous about it.

Wherever the door leads, it must be dangerous. Executive producer Julie Plec said that TVD will suffer at least one major death before the season is out and, ever since, we’ve been wracking our brains and scooping up spoilers in an attempt to figure out which TVDer it might be. Until then, we’re wary of any and all mysterious doors-to-nowhere that show up on the TVD set. Especially when they’re accompanied on Instagram by shots of cemeteries.
