The Vampire Diaries and Veronica Mars are two of our favorite shows in the history of TV, so to see Aunt Jenna (Sara Canning) and Keith Mars (Enrico Colantoni) together is pretty much a dream come true. What are these two actors doing together?

“Congrats to the most rad @ricocolantoni on his directorial debut! #RemedyTV,” Sara captioned the Instagram photo of she and Enrico together, all smiles. It’s pretty much as wonderful as you’d imagine.

Enrico is not only Sara’s director in this particular circumstance, but her co-star! The two both star on the Canadian medical drama, Remedy, a series that follows a medical school dropout when he returns to the hospital his father and sisters work at to work as an orderly. Enrico plays the father and chief of surgeon in this scenario, and Sara his surgeon daughter. Basically, she’s the Veronica in this situation. Remedy premiered in February, and will air its seventh episode in a 10-episode order tonight.

We’re happy to see Sara with a new show, but we can’t help but be a little bit sad that this diminishes the possibility of Aunt Jenna’s return to TVD. There’s been a lot of talk about the possible return of some of our favorite characters for the end of Season 5, and we were hoping Aunt Jenna might be one of them. Of all of the character deaths on TVD, hers was one of the most abrupt and left us with the least amount of closure. As Aunt Jenna technically died as a vampire, there is a good chance she’s currently hanging on the Other Side (hopefully, with hottie vampire hunter boyfriend Alaric). Even with her new TV show, we still have our fingers crossed that she might pop over for a visit now that the supernatural purgatory is disintegrating. After all, this might be her last chance.

Are you as happy as we are to see Sara not only on a new show -- but on a new show with Enrico Colantoni?! Do you hope Aunt Jenna might appear in Season 5? Sound off in the comments below!

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
