The Vampire Diaries is in the process of wrapping up filming for Season 5, which means one thing: behind-the-scenes tweets from the Season 5 finale! Our latest comes to us from Michael Malarkey (Enzo), and it has us seriously worried about the fate of the rugby-loving vamp. What is he doing in a graveyard?!!

“Last day out in the woods. #TVD #BTS,” Michael tweeted two days ago, along with a photo of woodsy graveyard. Hold up — Enzo better not be in one of this graves, show! Or we will be very, very cross.

OK, fine. It’s not very likely that Michael would be on set just to play a gravestone, so we’re going to try to hold off our alarmist, Enzo-is-dead tendencies. Because we think (read: hope) that he makes it to Season 6. We’ve even outlined some reasons for his continued presence on this show here. Go read them. We’ll wait.

Odds are, the graveyard set is being used in some sort of Traveler ritual because we all know that’s what this season is building towards, and because Enzo has had some kind of weird alliance with the Travelers as of late. Will this continue until the end of the season? There’s definitely a chance, especially if they are holding his long lost love Maggie over his head. Check out this excerpt from the synopsis for Season 5, Episode 19 (“Man on Fire”):

“Through flashbacks to election night, 1960, Enzo reveals to Elena, Stefan and Bonnie that he has learned what happened to his long-lost love, Maggie, and then, with the unwilling help of Liv and Luke, things take an ugly turn. Trying to calm Enzo down, Damon intervenes, but his words cause Enzo to make a desperate and dangerous decision that leads to a violent confrontation with Stefan.”

Will Enzo find out that something terrible happened to Maggie? Perhaps, she was turned vamp then eventually killed and sent to the Other Side. The reason we outline this as a possible turn of events is because everything seems to lead back to the Other Side this season, and — if Enzo has a loved one he is trying to protect over there — all bets are off.
