Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) have only recently found happiness after months of dealing with Bonnie lost to the Other Side. We knew the honeymoon period could only last so long on The Vampire Diaries. In this sneak peek for Thursday’s episode, we see Jeremy ditching Bonnie to hang out with Liv. Sure, it’s for supernatural scheming, but still! Will Bonnie and Jeremy break up?

Yes, they’re lying to one another. According to the synopsis for Thursday’s episode, “Bonnie is hurt and angry when she learns that Jeremy is working with Liv behind her back.” Though we don’t think that she will break up with Jeremy over this specific incident, we can’t help but worry that this is the beginning of the end for this couple, especially given that the problems the Travelers are causing will probably only get worse before they get better. It also doesn’t help that Bonnie is also on course to keep secrets from Jeremy. In the synopsis for Season 5, Episode 20 (“What Lies Beneath”), we learn that “Bonnie continues to keep the truth about the Other Side from Jeremy, despite warnings from Grams.” Yikes! We know these two are just trying to protect one another, but geez. Didn’t anyone ever tell them good communication is the key to any successful relationship?

No, they’ll get through this. On the other hand, there’s nothing that bonds people together in Mystic Falls like a life-or-death situation and it sounds like there is going to be plenty of that going around as TVD moves towards the Season 5 finale. Executive producer Julie Plec teased that not everyone would survive the season, and we think these stakes might help Bonnie and Jeremy move past stupid secret-keeping and potential squabbles in favor of being together while they still can, especially given Bonnie’s precarious position. As referenced in the synopsis for Season 5, Episode 19 (“Man on Fire”), the disintegration of the Other Side is bad news for the former witch: “Bonnie does her best to be realistic about how the changes happening on the Other Side will affect her existence as the Anchor.” So if the Other Side does disappear, what happens to the Anchor? We have a feeling these kinds of crises are just the ticket to creating some better channels of communication between these two lovebirds. Also, have you seen Jeremy’s muscles?

Do you think Bonnie and Jeremy will break up? Sound off in the comments below!

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
