With the finale of The Vampire Diaries creeping up in a few weeks, things are getting pretty interesting between our Mystic Falls friends and the Travelers. We now know why Markos needs Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Stefan’s (Paul Wesley) doppelganger blood — and we’re sure he and his followers will stop at nothing to accomplish their mission.

The synopsis for Season 5, Episode 21 (“Promised Land”) seems to promise more Stelena scenes, albeit non-romantic, because after escaping from Markos’ hold, Stefan is going to confront Elena about her relationship with Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Homegirl can’t catch a break, can she?

The witchy wonder twins — Liv and Luke — are going to embark on a “dangerous” new plan to save the doppelgangers while Damon will turn to Matt (Zach Roerig) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) to catch Markos in a trap.

Meanwhile, Bonnie (Kat Graham) is finally going to tell Caroline (Candice Accola) about the sudden collapse of the Other Side. Can it be saved? Bonnie is definitely going to try!

Check out the full synopsis for the May 8 episode:

“When Stefan and Elena escape from Markos’ (Raffi Barsoumian) control, only to find themselves stranded in a remote location, Stefan gets philosophical with Elena about her relationship with Damon. After their attempt to protect the dopplegangers goes badly, Liv (Penelope Mitchell) and Luke (Chris Brochu) come up with a dangerous new strategy. Damon recruits Matt and Jeremy to help him set a trap for Markos, who turns out to have a devastating surprise of his own. Bonnie finally admits to Caroline that she’s been keeping the truth about the Other Side from everyone. Finally, while Bonnie searches desperately for a way to stop Markos, Caroline is witness to an unthinkable act of violence by one of the Travelers.”
