It’s almost here: the backdoor pilot for the Supernatural spin-off starring Vampire Diaries alum and Aussie hottie Nathaniel Buzolic (Kol Mikaelson). The ep airs next Tuesday, April 29, introducing us to the world of Supernatural: Bloodlines. Check out the promo that gives us a glimpse into the spin-off.

“What is this? Godfather with fangs?” Dean quips in the awesome 20-second promo on Entertainment Weekly. We can’t see much in the sneak peek — and Nate unfortunately doesn’t appear at all — but we do get a quick briefer on what this world will look like.

“You say that there are five monster families that run Chicago?” a disbelieving Dean asks future spin-off main character Ennis Roth (Lucien Laviscount). Ennis has just seen his fiance killed in the war between the monsters.

“I know what I saw,” he insists back at the Winchester boys, who seems to be interrogating him in a police station. From here, the short promo breaks off into a monster montage, showing just how dangerous this supernatural underbelly of Chicago can get.

“What we do...it’s dangerous,” Sam tells Ennis, seemingly trying to convince him to leave the monster-investigating to the professionals.

But Ennis, a police academy trainee (at least in earlier incarnations of the spin-off), is having none of that: “You don’t know the city. I do.” Presumably cue Ennis’ tagging along on one of the Winchesters’ supernatural shenanigans.

Though we don’t see Nate, we already have some details of his role in the series. He will be playing David Hayden, “a shapeshifter from one of the ruling monster families who’s been living as a human, having given up the monster life years ago.”

This is all sounding very The Originals, but the vibe of the promo for this episode feels very different. We can’t wait to see it in its entirety!
