The Vampire Diaries is ratcheting up the drama as it moves ever-closer to the Season 5 finale. Next week, it hits us with Season 5, Episode 20 (“What Lies Beneath”) — a foray into horror, parlor games, and some good old-fashioned haunting. Here’s everything you need to know about “What Lies Beneath.”

Tyler escapes from the Travelers. It seems Tyler will make at least a temporary escape from the Travelers, given that according to the synopsis, he will turn up at the Salvatore house to let Stefan and Elena know that Markos is after their blood. How long will Tyler be able to keep Julian, his Traveler Passenger, at bay? Or is this Julian who is delivering a message from Markos to the Salavtores in the first place?

Cabin in the woods. In response to the news that doppelganger blood is in seriously high demand (and the use of it to reverse vampirism may kill all of the main characters), Damon suggests they take a trip off the grid. He, Elena, Stefan, and Caroline head to Caroline’s father’s remote cabin to wait out the Traveler search party.

Parlor games! What to do when off the grid? Parlor games, of course! In an effort to figure out what Stefan and Elena are keeping from him (and Caroline), he proposes some good old-fashioned parlor games to uncover the truth. (You can take the man out of the 19th century…) Will Damon really uncover the truth about Enzo’s death during a game of charades?

Enzo the Not-So-Friendly Ghost. Something tells us Enzo might force the truth out of Stefan and Elena first. The synopsis tells us that “a ghostly presence at the cabin uses violence and fire to make itself known.” We’re guessing that ghostly presence is Enzo, given his recent vow to get revenge on the Salvatores. In the promo for the ep, we even see someone push Elena’s head under the water while she’s taking a bath, and we think it might be Enzo. If so, since when can ghosts make physical contact with humans? (Amirite, Bonnie?)

Delena shares a romantic moment. Things are still tense between Damon and Elena. In the extended promo, we see them awkwardly discussing Damon’s previous decision not to see one another, while trapped in a secluded cabin together. But, we have a feeling they’ll be getting cozier before the episode is out. In this behind-the-scenes shot from the episode, we see the two sharing a moment in one another’s arms. Are these two getting back together?

Matt takes charge. According to the synopsis, “Matt takes charge of Tyler’s plan to get information from one of the Travelers.” Er, does this seem like code for Matt torturing Tyler — or, more accurately, the Passenger inhabiting Tyler’s body? Where’s Jeremy? We don’t want this show to disturb Matt’s delicate sensibilities anymore than they already have.

Bonnie is still lying to Jeremy. Apparently, Jeremy is off not getting the truth from Bonnie. According to the synopsis, “Bonnie continues to keep the truth about the Other Side from Jeremy, despite warnings from Grams.” Um, you know he’s going to find out eventually, right? Fast like a Band-Aid, Bon Bon.

It’s “fun, suspenseful, and romantic.” We’ll leave you on a positive note. When one fan tweeted director Joshua Butler concerned that the synopsis made the episode sound weird, he responded: “Episode is SO NOT weird, promise. It's fun, suspenseful and romantic.” Alrighty, then.

Catch the next episode of The Vampire Diaries on Thursday, May 1 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
