Wanna hear a terribly-kept secret? We adore Vampire Diaries’ enigmatic vampire-turned-ghost Enzo (Michael Malarkey). We were sad to see him die in the last episode, but overjoyed to realize he would still be present on the show as a revenge-seeking spirit. That’s right: Enzo’s thirst for vengeance against the Salvatore bros is so strong that not even his own death can quell it. Check out what Michael told The Hollywood Reporter about his quest for revenge!
“Enzo is going to do whatever he can to get what he wants, whether that includes finding like-minded people or plowing ahead like a bulldozer,” Michael teased about Enzo’s revenge. “You may see certain people cropping up that he might link up with briefly but for the most part, he's in it for himself and is trying to get what he wants.” Fingers crossed he’s talking about Emily Thorne! More likely, however, he refers to some of his compatriots on the Other Side. The Mystic Falls gang has an enemy or two over there who would gladly join Team Revenge.
Speaking of the Other Side, its disintegration has changed the very rules of the boundary between the living and dead. Haunting has never been so easy! Basically, it’s a great time to be a vengeful ghost (as long as you don’t run into that spirit-sucking vortex that keeps popping up), and Enzo is not only taking advantage of this, but paying close attention: “It's all based in the fact that the Other Side is falling apart in a sense,” Enzo said of his haunting. “Little things are starting to happen that are peculiar and things that are quite creepy. Enzo quickly starts to figure some of these things out because he's quick like that isn't he? You'll begin to see some of these things happening. It's quite creepy and quite fantastical.”
How will Enzo react to his busy schedule of seeking revenge against the Salvatores while simultaneously monitoring the collapse of the Other Side? Well, it helps that his humanity switch is off: “He's already a little bit unhinged and he's already a little bit spontaneous and can be reckless,” said Michael. “But there's this sense of cool, calculated energy that he has as well and that comes back now that he's switched off his humanity — that soldier Enzo, where he's going to be plotting things and planning things and making himself known and actively seeking some form of revenge which you'll get to see some glimpses in the next episode and in the lead-up.” Soldier Enzo sound good to us!
What do you think Enzo’s role will be moving towards the season finale? Do you think he will succeed in his revenge against Damon and Stefan? Sound off in the comments below!
