Fans are still reeling from the death of Stefan Salvatore in penultimate episode of Season 5 of The Vampire Diaries (Season 5, Episode 21: "Promised Land"). Would TVD really kill off one of its main heroes? Sure, this isn't the first time Julie Plec and Co. have killed off a major character, and we all know that no one is ever really dead on TVD, but executive producer Caroline Driers did reveal that there would be three notable — and very permanent — deaths this season. Stefan may be dead, but is he gone for good?
Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley isn't easing any fears. After the East Coast airing of the episode, Paul took to Twitter to say, "Stefan is done-zo. Sorry guys." Now, we know Paul likes his sarcasm, so until it's confirmed by Julie Plec, we're not taking his word for it just yet.
Then again, Stefan did have it heart ripped out. Last we checked, that was still a pretty permanent (and gruesome!) way to go. With the Other Side falling apart at a rapid pace, the Mystic Falls gangs isn't just going to have to come up with a plan to bring Stefan back, they need to stop the Other Side from imploding first! And how are they going to do that if the Travelers are sucking the magic out of Mystic Falls? Only time will tell.
What do you think, TVD fans? Is Stefan really dead? Or will Damon find a way to bring him back? Sound off in the comments!
