We’re freaking over the possibility that Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) death in last week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries could be permanent. We’ve already wondered if Damon (Ian Somerhalder) might be able to save his little brother from the Other Side, but if not, perhaps Barack Obama might be able to lend a hand?

“A follower of mine was so distraught over the ending of tonight's TVD that they cc:d @BarackObama to help fix it,” TVD executive producer Julie Plec tweeted last Friday, the day after the episode in question aired. “Made me smile.” Smile? Smile, Julie?! This is very serious business. Stefan is currently stuck in a supernatural purgatory that is collapsing. He could be swept by his Hero Hair into one of those Vortexes O’ Doom at any moment. We need to get our heads in the game!

We forgive Julie for the casual way in which she can discuss the topic. After all, she already knows what happens in the Season 5 finale. We’re not so lucky — though we do have some clues about what might go down. For example, we know that Damon, Elena (Nina Dobrev), and Caroline (Candice Accola) are all desperate to save Stefan. Damon will be coming up with a dangerous plan that may involve blowing up Mystic Falls. Elena and Caroline, on the other hand, are going to the wonder twins for help. Will Luke and Liv be able and/or willing to help them? Well, according to the synopsis, Caroline “provides [Liv] with some personal motivation.”

Yikes! Sounds like everyone is taking off the gloves in the quest to save Stefan. No word on if President Obama has taken any action on saving Stefan yet, but we’re sure he’s in the White House Situation Room reviewing Other Side intelligence with his top advisors as we blog.

Do you think someone will save Stefan? Do you think it will be Barack Obama? Sound off in the comments below!

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
