If you thought The Vampire Diaries would save all of its rumored character deaths for the final minutes of the Season 5 finale — or even the third act — then you’d be wrong. According to TV Guide, the vampire drama isn’t pulling any punches in the early minutes of Season 5, Episode 22 (“Home”). What did the news outlet tease about the episode?

According to TV Guide, of the multiple character deaths teased to take place in the season-ender, “at least one of the fatalities comes very early in the finale and serves to motivate certain people to save the other side.” (Apparently, Stefan’s death last episode wasn’t enough of a motivator.) Given what we saw in last night’s phenomenal season finale of The Originals, this news doesn’t surprise us. Both supernatural dramas tend to take our expectations of how fast the plot will progress and laugh as they speed by them.

So, who might the character in question be? Our money is on Tyler/Julian (Sorry, Ty! Not sorry, Julian), who is technically already kinda dead after Traveler Julian stole his body and banished Tyler into whatever netherworld exists for orphaned souls. The synopsis for the episode teases: “Sheriff Forbes is horrified when Markos uses violence against Tyler/Julian to prove that Mystic Falls is now under the control of the Travelers.” What do you think? Is this a murdering reference?

Other possibilities include: pretty much everyone ever in this town. Given that Damon’s master plan to save everyone we’ve ever met on this show is to blow up Mystic Falls (because vampire logic), we’re not sure if anyone is safe. Especially given that this show seems to be offering up a big Get Out of Death Free card for characters who sacrifice themselves for the cause. Though, people should probably be reading the fine print on said Get Out of Death Free card because it seems to rely on Bonnie saving everyone from the Other Side, something she has openly admitted she has no idea whatsoever how to do. Yikes! Good luck, victim of season finale death that comes early.

Who do you think this tease refers to? Will Bonnie be able to rescue her peeps from the Other Side? Share your theories in the comments below!

Catch the Season 5 finale of The Vampire Diaries on Thursday, May 15 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
