When it comes to Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries, it sounds like our cast will be living life in the fast lane. Per the latest casting announcement for the upcoming installment of our favorite supernatural series, it’s time to meet yet another new face!

That’s right, The Wrap reports that Rectify’s Jayson Warner Smith has been booked in a minor role for Season 6 and will appear in at least two episodes as a guy who runs a high-end hot rod shop. Given that he played a psychopath death row inmate on Rectify, this sounds like quite a different character for Jayson to test out his acting chops with.

Since we’ve never really cared about cars before on TVD, we’re drawing a blank as to how Jayson’s character will fit in with the Mystic Falls crew. Perhaps he’ll be in a flashback or will be called in to doctor up some rides for the community militia run by Tripp (Colin Ferguson), the new villain for the upcoming season. Rumor has it that he’ll be going up against Sheriff Forbes, so he and his army will likely need some tough gear to tackle the police force.

That being said, if this new character is only around for two episodes, it sounds like he is doomed just like every other new face.

What do you think the hot rod shop owner is up to? Hit the comments and start speculating!
