Watch out, Mystic Falls! Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen) will be in emo-anger mode come Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries. But can you really blame him? He lost another girlfriend in the Season 5 finale when Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) seemingly died in the collapse of the Other Side. How is Jer dealing when we see him again? Executive producer Julie Plec chatted to Zap2it on the subject.

"The Jeremy that we're going to see is going to be a little reminiscent of Jeremy in Season 1 that we first met," Julie teased on Jeremy’s Season 6 arc. "He has just been hit with a brick wall of grief, in a way that he will eventually admit is really not cool. Being told by your girlfriend over the phone that she's not going to make it through the night when she's been lying to you all along, that's hardcore emotional stuff to deal with. He's not going to take it very well. We're going to have to try to figure out how to get Jeremy back to his senses a bit, even though he's kind of legitimate in his anger."

Out of all of the characters on this show, Jeremy may have had it the hardest — and that’s saying something. He has lost his parents, Vicki, Anna, Aunt Jenna, Alaric, and now Bonnie. Heck, he even died a few times in there, too. And we agree that Bonnie’s secret-keeping prior to her apparent death probably doesn’t help Jeremy’s grief. Angry Jeremy may make us sad, but we totally understand where he’s coming from.

Of course, unlike us, Jer doesn’t know that Bonnie is still alive, in some sense of that word, and hanging in some kind of existential plane with Damon. A lot of focus has been given to the Damon/Elena love story and what Season 6’s theme of a “journey back to each other” means for them, but it can also be applied to Bonnie/Jeremy. Will their love story have a happy ending?
