With Damon hanging out in some existential plane when Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries picks up, there’s an opening for  a dashing yet unstable vampire with murderous tendencies. Enter Enzo (Michael Malarkey), aka Damon’s former murder buddy. The brooding vamp has been upped to a series regular for Season 6, and it sounds like he will be up to his old shenanigans when the new season picks up.

"[Enzo]'s going to bring a little bit of the fun and a little bit of the naughty," TVD executive producer Julie Plec told E! Online. "He reminds me a lot of season one Damon in that any given moment you can't tell if he's going to make a joke or kill somebody."

We’re excited to see Enzo taking on a larger role in Season 6, but we hope that his arc endures a bit more upward trajectory than last season, which saw him succombing to his desire to vengeance and killing himself at Stefan’s in order to drive a wedge between the Salvatore brothers. In the Season 5 finale, he worked with the fang gang to save some of their own (and himself) from the collapse of the Other Side. In the wake of Damon’s apparent death, will he have bonded with the fang gang or be more upset with them than ever? From the sounds of Julie’s spoiler, it could be a bit of both. Enzo’s complicated like that — and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

What do you hope to see Enzo doing in Season 6? Sound off in the comments below!
