Ever since Rose first spoke his name in Vampire Diaries Season 2, we have been in fear of the big bad Klaus (Joseph Morgan). We’ve heard it all: He’s the most powerful original, he’s the invincible hybrid, he can’t die, etc. But that hasn’t stopped, like, everyone from trying to kill him.

First, it was Elijah who had a plan. Then, Mikael was ready to take him down. But in Season 3, when Klaus claimed he created the bloodlines of Katherine, Stefan, Damon, Elena, Caroline, and Tyler, our desire for him to die significantly lessened. Well, there’s that... and, of course, the paintings.

The thing is, there’s always been the question of whether Klaus actually can die. Yes, he can be desiccated and stored in a coffin; and it certainly seemed like Alaric’s mighty stake could have killed Klaus... had it stayed put. But is there another way to knock him down for the count, send him to the great beyond, and all that afterlife stuff?

Taking a break from the immortality part of the equation: Should Klaus die? Not only would we miss his accent, irresistible charm, and impressive vocabulary, but we’re worried his death would lead to the death of all the vamps and hybrids we love. We’re sure there’s a spell to fix that, but the question still remains: Would you be interested in a Klaus-free world?

Can he die? Should he die? You tell us!
