Still shocked by the death of Aunt Jenna (Sara Canning)? Us too. That’s why we are super stoked that our favorite “parent” is blogging over at Teen.com all summer!

In her latest installment, Canning fills us in on what life is like outside of Mystic Falls — which is, sadly, where she’ll be for awhile, if not indefinitely. Boo! But, don’t you worry, TVD-ers. Canning’s doing just fine.

First off, Sara has some stellar summer plans. The starlet says she’s going to spend the next few months playing “beach volleyball, spending time with my closest pals, and finding a wicked recipe for homemade ice cream.” While that’s the most we could ask out of one summer, Sara is also taking both a screenwriting class and an acting class and seeing redheaded rocker Florence and the Machine in concert. Whew!

As for a new gig? “There are also work prospects on the horizon,” she says. Sweet! We knew this girl wouldn’t be off the screen for long!

Actually, even before TVD decided Aunt Jenna had to go, Canning had been keeping herself quite busy with side projects. She starred in a film called Black Field, a 19th-century tragedy about two sisters and the lover who drives a wedge between them, which snagged some awards at the Women in Film Festival and Female Eye Film Festival. It was originally only airing in Canada but will soon be making its way to the U.S. for those of you who need your Sara fix.

And while Canning loves being on screen, she also dished that she has a dream of one day writing her own screenplays. (Hence the class, yes?) Maybe one day Canning will come back to pen an episode of the show that killed her off. (And write herself back in. Please?)

We’ll miss her, but Canning is definitely keeping busy. #vivalajenna! Oh, and #vivalasara, too!
