The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev (Elena) absolutely wowed us in her Donna Karan Emmy dress. That origami-covered gown is totally filed in our arsenal of style inspiration. But who are the 22 year old’s own fashion icons?
“I’m a chameleon as a person and as an artist,” she tells Nylon, adding that all the events she attends are so different she has “a different inspiration each time.” Specifically, Nina cited Kate Beckinsale for her “clean” and “classy” style and Zoe Saldana’s ability to take risks yet still look put together. Other faves include Emma Watson, Olivia Wilde, Emma Stone, and Glee’s Dianna Agron. (Nina also admitted in the interview she’s a bit Glee-obsessed. Squee!)
And Nina wasn’t lying about being a chameleon as an artist, too. The Bulgarian-born starlet plays two polar opposites — who have very different styles — on The Vampire Diaries. But does she relate to Katherine or Elena more fashion-wise?
“My style is both of them,” she says. “I feel like I dress like Elena during the day and Katherine at night. Like right now, I'm wearing a t-shirt and sweats. It just depends.”
Nina also revealed who she thinks would win if TV’s top vampire vixens (and one vamp girlfriend) threw down.
“Hmm... I think because Kathryn and Elena are related, they would end up teaming up and defeating [True Blood’s] Sookie,” she says.
