Ian Somerhalder‘s (Damon) do-gooder nature seems to be rubbing off on girlfriend Nina Dobrev (Elena).
The 22-year-old Bulgarian actress is taking a cue from her philanthropic boy toy and finding her own way to encourage youth to care about the planet.
On September 27, Dobrev will co-host “We Day” in Toronto, Canada with fellow star, Joe Jonas. According to Ecorazzi, the 18,000 students invited will enjoy a full day of “speeches and performances from Nobel Peace Laureates and world-renowned social activists and Golden Globe, Grammy, and JUNO Award winners.”
Joe Jonas will perform “See No More.” As if an event with Joe Jonas would be complete without at least one performance.
“We Day” is brought to the public by Free the Children, an organization which aims to “free children from poverty and exploitation and free young people from the notion that they are powerless to affect positive change in the world.” And we were kidding about Nina following in Ian’s footsteps — she actually spoke at the first ever We Day back in 2007 and has served as ambassador ever since.
