Ever since Bonnie (Kat Graham) suggested to her friends that bringing back every single supernatural from the dead wasn’t since a bad idea, we’ve been worried about the witch. Then she took a few days off from school to plot murder before finally returning in The Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 17, “Because the Night.”

She was casually conversing with Silas — who’d taken on the form of the deceased Shane (David Alpay). “You’re in my head,” she told him. “You’re making me see things and do things.” Then he brought up Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen), and she was willing to listen to the ancient immortal again.

When a coven attempted to cleanse Bonnie of her Expression — at Silas’s behest — Caroline (Candice Accola) ended up killing Asia, the witch in charge, triggering the rest of their deaths. “The triangle is complete,” Bonnie said after all dozen witches were dead, her eyes eerily white.

But it seems like the witches’ attempt helped clear things up for Bonnie and she was no longer brainwashed by Silas. Stefan (Paul Wesley) brought her home and sat with her until she woke up. “Whatever those witches did must’ve messed with your memory,” he said when she seemed confused about the night’s events. She told him the last thing she remembered: Jeremy finding the cure in Silas’s hands. “Bonnie, there’s something you need to know about Jeremy,” Stefan replied.

Is Bonnie really cured of her brainwashing, or is she just putting on an act so she can continue to do Silas’s bidding?
