That poor waitress. In a totally unpredictable move, Elena (Nina Dobrev) lashed out at the server after having a serious conversation with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) in The Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 18, “American Gothic.” Elena made her second kill.

The Salvatores don’t have the cure, but they still want it for Elena. When she asks if they’ll stop trying to make her take it, neither brother agrees. And their motives aren’t purely altruistic. “I owe Elena her shot at being normal again,” Stefan told Damon earlier. “Once we give her the cure, I’m getting her out of my life and I’m getting a life of my own.”

“You know that I don’t want the cure,” Elena told the brothers. She insisted that they stop talking about it. “Will you let me be who I am or not?”

Neither Salvatore seemed particularly fond of this version of Elena and refused. Stefan said that this Elena isn’t the real Elena. “It is now,” she countered. Then he reminded her that she never gave up on him when his emotions were off. That’s when Elena snapped the waitress’s neck, promising there would be more if they kept trying to “fix” her.

Do you think Elena has a point? Should the brothers stop trying to fix her or do they need to keep fighting for the old Elena?
