Uh oh! The Vampire Diaries’ ratings took a nosedive this week after a mini hiatus.
It’s true: TV Line reports that despite an all-around fabulous episode, the hit CW teen soap clocked fell 20 percent to 2.18 million total viewers, 23 percent to a season-low 1.0 demo rating.
Sadly, viewers also didn’t show up for TVD’s successor, The Secret Circle, which also hit series lows, so Mystic Falls wasn’t the only supernatural town fans in trouble last night.
Where were the fans, then? Presumably over at American Idol, which took Thursday with 14.6 million total viewers and a 3.9 rating. We love a surprise elimination as much as the next girls, but not when it takes away from our favorite supernaturals!
The good news: A decline is pretty normal when a show returns from a three week-long break, and TVD is still the CW’s top show. So don’t worry too much: It’s not going anywhere! That said, tell all your friends to tune in next week!
