Army veteran Nathaniel Richardson, husband of Vampire Diaries actress Shannon Guess (a.k.a. Shannon Rogers), is currently being questioned by the FBI over Ricin-laced letters sent to President Barack Obama and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Model and actress Shannon Guess, 35, reportedly informed the authorities when she found what appeared to be a glass container of Ricin in the couple’s refrigerator. Shannon also allegedly found Internet searches on their home computer related to how to make Ricin.
Nathaniel Richardson is now under investigation to determine if he is connected to the Ricin letters mailed to Obama and Bloomberg. The letters reportedly featured complaints about legislative efforts on gun control and death threats, according to security sources.
“You will have to kill me and my family before you get my guns... Anyone wants to come to my house will be shot in the face. The right to bear arms is my constitutional God-given right and I will exercise that right 'til the day I die... What's in this letter is nothing compared to what I've got planned for you."
Nathaniel Richardson, 37, is currently in police custody but no charges have been brought against him yet. Witnesses reported seeing FBI agents searching and removing items from the couple’s home in New Boston, Texas. However, the Army vet has not yet been named as a suspect in any crime.
Neighbors of the couple say that he works at the Red River Army Depot, which serves as a repair facility for military vehicles, as a civilian employee with the Department of Defense. Shannon and Nathaniel have five children together and she is currently pregnant with the couple’s sixth child.
Shannon has appeared in small parts as a student on The Vampire Diaries, a waitress on Drop Dead Diva, and a zombie in The Walking Dead. She has also played bit parts in films such as The Blind Side, The Change Up, Madea's Big Happy Family, and The Last Song.
The couple's home is located about 100 miles from the Shreveport, La. mail depot where the Ricin-laced letters were sent. The postal hub handles mail from parts of Texas and Arkansas.
Ricin is a deadly poison even in extremely small quantities, with symptoms including nausea, tachycardia, hypotension and seizures. Victims die from a build up of fluid in the lungs. A handful of Ricin-laced letters have been sent to various politicans in the past few months, including one sent to Mayor Bloomberg and an anti-gun group he works with, and an identical letter to President Obama.
