Before snagging a 2012 Teen Choice Award, Candice Accola (Caroline Forbes) stepped out on the red carpet looking fabulous in yellow. Wetpaint Entertainment spoke to the scene stealer, and Candice previewed Season 4 of The Vampire Diaries — including why it might be great to have Klaus (Joseph Morgan) stick around in Tyler’s (Michael Trevino) body for a bit.
Wetpaint Entertainment: I’m thinking Klaus in Tyler’s body has to be the best of both worlds, right?
Candice Accola: I mean, I think so. I’m like, Trevino, what if you just take your shirt off and talk with an accent? I think everyone would be really happy.
What can we expect when Vampire Diaries comes back?
Big things will have happened in Elena’s [Nina Dobrev] personal life and everyone is going to really gather around her to be supportive, as everyone has done for each other character going through transition, even Caroline herself. Everyone kind of gathered around her to make sure that she was okay, and that’s what we’re going to do for Elena as well.
Will she come to Caroline? If anyone knows what it’s like to become a vampire it’s her.
Caroline will be a very big part in supporting Elena, and teaching her the ways, as everyone else will be in helping her adjust to her life.
What kind of a vampire do you think Elena will make?
It’s too soon to tell. Everyone goes through their own transition on the show, all the characters do. And just like Caroline went through not being able to control herself and learning how to control herself and the heightened emotions — I think we’re going to experience all those things again through the eyes of Elena.
How soon is Caroline going to figure out that Tyler is no longer Tyler?
She’ll figure it out pretty quickly. I don’t want to give away the exact moment, but she’ll figure it out quickly enough. It won’t be like Episode 8.
Does Klaus even have it in him to pretend he’s Tyler?
You’ll have to see!
Are you guys having fun?
So much fun! It’s been the kind of season where we’re taking pictures almost every other day on set. Like, “This is so cool!” I think that the show’s just gotten bigger in so many ways, but what’s beautiful is that this season there’s a lot of big action, a lot of big events, but at the same time we’re bringing it back to Season 1 in discovering something for the first time. Especially with our main character, Elena, and having her figure things out for the first time and in a completely brand new way.
Is there a script you’ve had a really strong reaction to so far?
The second one. I really loved the second one. But I love all of them.
