Despite the unparalleled success of vampire series Twilight, lead star Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) has told the press it wasn’t him so much as his character that launched his acting career.

Another British actor turned supernatural star, The Vampire Diaries’ Joseph Morgan (Klaus), agrees: "Provided he didn't mess it all up, Robert was guaranteed a fan base thanks to Twilight," he told Yahoo.

He continued:  "His character is iconic and there's a huge following of the books but there's a tremendous amount of pressure that comes with that. People have their own very distinctive ideas of how a character should be portrayed especially when you're playing a vampire."

Sounds like someone else we know! Klaus’ character had quite the build-up on TVD, and we were pretty much programmed to love/hate him before he ever made his appearance. Luckily, J. Morg has more than lived up to the hype!

Yet the 30-year-old British stud doesn’t want all the attention that comes with super (vampire) stardom. “Of course I'd like to have Robert Pattinson's career but I don't like the whole celebrity aspect of it,” he says.

Sigh, lifestyles of the fanged and famous.
