Stop! Don’t read if you haven’t seen Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 5, “The Killer Yet.” We compel you!
Oh, snap! Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 5, “The Killer” was certainly unexpected. Elena (Nina Dobrev) let her inner vampire out, and now... Connor (Todd Williams) is dead. Like every other vampire on the planet, Elena is a murderer.Damon (Ian Somerhalder) — who she kills just like! — warned her this would happen, while Stefan (Paul Wesley) tried to keep the beast at bay for as long as possible.
Even though he was a hunter who wanted to end all vampirism, Connor was still a human. Elena will have to live with that. This will certainly change her, as a compassionate individual and as a vampire. Stefan routinely said that he thought taking a life would crush Elena. Maybe he’ll hunt even harder for a cure now, so the guilt won’t be too much.
There are a lot of directions this could go, but are you glad TVD started down this path? On the one hand, it was unrealistic that Elena would remain a guiltless vampire. On the other, having her kill a “villain” instead of an innocent might make for an interesting gray area (not that we want Elena becoming Dexter anytime soon).
What did you think of Elena’s deadly act?
