Let’s face it: When it comes to betraying Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Tyler (Michael Trevino) just might take the cake. First, he played a crucial rule in Klaus’s desiccation in Season 3, and now, he de-sired all of Klaus’s hybrids to try to take him down once again. He even started his own mini-revolution by turning Klaus’s only “family” against him. We all know Klaus is evil, but Tyler definitely hit him where it hurts.

But let’s look at this question of should Tyler have died logistically: Did Tyler need to die in order for the weird (not to mention incredibly bloody) 12-hybrid sacrifice to work? Was Tyler part of this plan, or was Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) even semi-useful in protecting him?

Now a question for you shippers: Should Tyler have died so that Klaroline can exist? Then again, would Caroline (Candice Accola) have ever considered being with Klaus if he had killed Tyler? And then there’s the idea that if Tyler had died, Mystic Falls would probably still have its beloved mayor... just sayin’.

Regardless of whether Tyler should’ve died, we doubt that killing Carol is going to be the end of Klaus’s rage. If he’s still on the hunt, Tyler is definitely his number one target. Let’s hope Caroline is more charming than ever when it comes to the all-powerful hybrid and her ability to protect the man she loves.

At the end of the day, do you think Tyler should have died along with the rest of his pack? Sound off in the poll below!
