Talk about doctors without borders! Meredith (Torrey DeVitto) decided to get a little medically creative in Season 3 of The Vampire Diaries by injecting her patients with vampire blood. Oh (negative) she didn’t!

Sorry.

Anyway, her choice to meddle with the undead’s blood saved Elena (Nina Dobrev) from death. But now executive producer Julie Plec tells TVLine that Dr. Fell’s mysterious medical practicing days might be over.

“Meredith in the beginning is just trying to keep her head above water, realizing that she’s found herself dropped into this supernatural world she never really meant to get involved with,” says Plec. “She has a choice to make: Does she want to dive in headfirst and embrace it? Or does she want to pull back and say, ‘Hey you know what? Why don’t you guys leave me out of it.’ We’ll be seeing a little bit of her in the beginning of the season.”

Mer really should continue to be on Team Vampire. For one thing, the Founder’s Council revoked her license so she’s going to have a lot of time to day drink with Damon (Ian Somerhalder).
