Attention all Forwood fans: We’re about to talk about newbie werewolf, Hayley, so please, retract your claws and pull back those fangs! We come in peace!

And, based on an interview with TV.com, we think Hayley does too. Okay, seriously, don’t scratch or bite us.

While actress Phoebe Tonkin may have played a conniving, backstabbing vixen Faye on The Secret Circle, her newest role has a much softer and innocent edge to it...For now.

“She's a tomboy,” Tonkin explained. “She lost her parents when she was younger, so she sort of grew up running around with these packs of werewolves. She's a free spirit, she's kind of ballsy, she stands up to people a lot, I think just because she's had to take care of herself for so long. Yeah, so, she's strong.”

Strong, yes, but as Tonkin further explains, that strength comes from a good place.

“She's a good person. I think she has priorities of her own, but I don't think she's going to be manipulative like Faye. Faye would've done whatever it took to get what she wanted. But Hayley definitely has some secrets and some information that she's looking for, which is kind of more or less what brings her to Mystic Falls. She's trying to find something out.”

See? She’s not looking for wild werewolf sex with Tyler (Michael Trevino), or to break things up with Caroline (Candice Accola) necessarily! Plus, you’ve gotta feel for this girl. She’s an orphan—just like Elena (Nina Dobrev).

Okay, yeah, we’re going to stop talking before these Forwood fans rip our mouths off.
