Though The Vampire Diaries Season 4 doesn’t start until October 11, take heart, fandom. The show will up its episode count by one — increasing from 22 to 23, Zap2It reports.

The later starting date and increased episode count means the hiatuses will be fewer and shorter. That’s great news, because Season 4 is shaping up to be crazy good. There have been oodles of spoilers about what to expect when TVD finally does return. The premiere is titled “Growing Pains,” which likely refers to Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) newfound thirst for blood. It’s possible she’ll take her first victim in that first episode, because the second is titled, “Memorial.”

If you’re still on the edge of your seat, head over to the spoiler section to find out what’s happening with the rest of the crew.
