Our fictional boyfriend Elijah (Daniel Gillies) skipped town on us — we feel like Caroline (Candice Accola) — but he’ll soon be putting in an appearance in The Vampire Diaries’ spin-off, The Originals

Chris Grismer is working on the backdoor pilot, which airs April 25, and he tweeted a photo of Daniel Gillies, who arrived ready for the first day of filming. “Elijah arrives for first day of filming. #theoriginals #tvd,” he wrote.

Glad to see Elijah hasn’t lost his sense of style. Klaus will be joining his brother in New Orleans, and Joseph Morgan shared his excitement on Twitter this morning: “Day one. Forget what you know, or what you think you know #beoriginal.”

Details of the story are hard to come by, but we do know Elijah heads to New Orleans in search of his brother, who’s feeling “self-destructive.” The Original helps out the hybrid, who is seeking redemption.

Plus, some New Orleanians are plotting against the OV. “The idea is that a turn of events in Mystic Falls sends Klaus to New Orleans to solve a mystery,”  Julie Plec tells Entertainment Weekly. “He gets word that some people are making a move against him that might concern him. So he heads to New Orleans to try to figure who’s plotting against him and what they’re up to.”

In order to capture the essence of the Big Easy, some of the show will be shot in the Louisiana town, but it will also do some of its filming in Georgia, like TVD.

We can’t wait to see Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah (Claire Holt) prowling the streets of New Orleans. Let’s hope there are no white oak stakes anywhere in town.
