We will never forget the first moment we met Elijah (Daniel Gillies), Vampire Diaries' first Original vampire. All we knew was that he was really old, really strong, and that a wooden stake wouldn’t kill him. Also, he was really hot, dressed really well and had amazing hair. But when we got the chance to know Elijah, we discovered that he was but one of many Originals. Less than a year later, and we’ve met them all: Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Rebekah (Claire Holt), Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic), Henrik, Finn, Esther and Mikael.

Although the family now consists only of Kol, Rebekah, Klaus and Elijah, the Originals are still some of our favorite supernatural beings around. Now comes some amazing news: The Originals could get their own spinoff.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, TVD executive producer Julie Plec has written an Original-centric episode (which will air April 25) that will set up The Originals. The episode features Klaus, who makes a trip back down to New Orleans, where he runs into Marcel, his old protege. Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley) will also star.

The spinoff would be headed by Julie Plec with Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo as executive producers.

As much as we love the idea of getting to spend more time with Elijah and his siblings (but really Elijah), does this spin-off mean we’ll no longer see the Originals on TVD? Because that possibility makes us want to cry.

Still, we would absolutely tune into The Originals and love every second of it.
