Pull on your torn fishnets and shellac on the red lipstick, because it’s time to do the “Timewarp” again on The Vampire Diaries in Season 4, Episode 4, “The Five.” It’s back to the 12th century, folks!

And it all starts when Damon (Ian Somerhalder) takes Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) to visit Whitmore College and, after playing the studious vampire, decides to spice things up and teaches Elena how to choose a suitable victim... at a fraternity costume party. While that’s going on, Bonnie heads to Occults Studies 101, where she meets Professor Shane (David Alpay), who’s taken over her Grams’s teaching positon.

After a rejection from Matt (Zach Roerig),  Rebekah (Claire Holt) perks up when she gets unexpected news from Klaus (Joseph Morgan). (Maybe he’s finally going to open up about how much he loves me?! Wait... this isn’t my diary, is it?)

And speaking of beautiful Klaus, he’s about to get a lot of questions from Stefan (Paul Wesley) about what new hunter Connor (Todd Williams) is up to. This brings about a 12th century Italian flashback to an encounter Klaus had with a powerful posse of vampire hunters! While that might seem shocking enough, it’s Rebekah’s news that really floors Stefan.

“THE VAMPIRE DIARIES” — (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)
“The Five” (TV-14, V) (HDTV)

A FRAT PARTY AND A FLASHBACK TO 12TH CENTURY ITALY — Damon (Ian Somerhalder) goes with Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) to visit Whitmore College, where Professor Shane (guest star David Alpay, “The Borgias”) is taking over the Occult Studies classes formerly taught by Bonnie’s grandmother.  At a fraternity costume party, Damon takes advantage of the wild scene to give Elena a lesson in choosing a victim.  Rebekah’s (Claire Holt) attempt to buy Matt’s (Zach Roerig) forgiveness falls flat, but she is intrigued by unexpected news from Klaus (Joseph Morgan).  When Stefan (Paul Wesley) questions Klaus about Connor’s (guest star Todd Williams) motives, Klaus reveals a long-ago encounter with a powerful group of vampire hunters, but it’s Rebekah who delivers the information that stuns Stefan.  Joshua Butler directed the episode written by Brett Matthews & Rebecca Sonnenshine (#404).
