It’s not that we don’t think Carol Lockwood is a competent, in-control single mom/mayor who just happens to keep vervain-tipped darts and a gun handy for the random vampire attack. But something about the very last, gasp-worthy scene of The Vampire Diaries Season 3, Episode 1, “The Birthday” struck us as a little premeditated.

We get that the Mayor is not pleased that her precious little Tyler is hooking up with Vampire Barbie, Caroline. But really, was the whole target practice necessary? A nice, “please leave my house” would’ve sufficed. We’re starting to see where the whole Romeo and Juliet comparison is coming from.

But we’re wondering just who told Mayor Lockwood that her son has been has been hanging with the undead. The whole town isn’t privy to Caroline’s condition, so there are only a few suspects.
