The Vampire Diaries said goodbye to the little emo that could when Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) died in the middle of Season 4. It’s not clear if Bonnie’s (Kat Graham) witchy (and kind of wacky) ways will bring back the little Gilbert, but at the Eyecon convention over the weekend, Steven R. McQueen didn’t sound too sure.

“Well, they burnt me body, so I think they were saying I’m done.” joked Steven. When someone suggested he could be a ghost, he replied, “Are you calling me pasty?”

You’re killing us, McQueen! But the actor did admit it was a little tough learning his TVD character was done for. He said, “When I found out that I was gonna get killed, I was kinda sad. It wasn’t until it aired, and then people started calling me, like, ‘You’re dead,’ that it kind of really hit me, ‘Aw, man this is rough.’ But it was a great experience, and I learned a lot from it. … It was a lot of fun.”

Though we really hope The Vampire Diaries manages to find a way to bring Jer back every now again, Steven hinted that he might not be off our TV screens for long. “I can say that CW is a great network, so there might be a future surprise on maybe a different show coming up,” he teased. Later he added that he’s gotten some cool job opportunities thanks to the show.

Any guesses? We love the idea of him and Nathaniel Buzolic (Kol) doing a spin-off about Jeremy and Kol’s time in Denver. Things to Do in Denver When You’re Undead, anyone?
