Sorry to say, but someone we know and possibly love will die in Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 9, “O Come All Ye Faithful.” We’re not sure if it’ll be a major player or if there will be some loophole (we can hardly think of a character who hasn’t died and come back to life at least once), but we’ll speculate on some of the likely suspects before Thursday, December 13.

Bonnie (Kat Graham) has been hitting that spirit tea pretty hard. We don’t know exactly what’s in Professor Shane’s (David Alpay) special brew, but we suspect it’s illegal in at least 32 states. In this episode, she’s tasked with getting rid of Jeremy’s (Steven R. McQueen) icky hunter tattoo side-effects (like the ones that make him want to kill his sister).

That could be a dangerous mission, only Bonnie isn’t a vampire. We’re not sure if hunters hate all supernatural beings or just bloodsuckers, but we’re pretty sure Bon-Bon is safe. For one thing, we’ve only scratched the surface of this “expression” thing she and the prof are working on. It sounds like bad juju and killing Bonnie before she’s really tapped into it would be a big letdown.

For some reason, the Bennett witch is the key to whatever magic Shane is messing with, and that makes her pretty safe. Plus, her dad is scheduled to finally make an appearance after the hiatus, and Rudy is as suspicious of Bonnie and Shane’s student-teacher relationship as we are.

Despite the number of times Bonnie has volunteered to sacrifice herself, we’re thinking she stays safe this episode. Unless of course, she gets magically resurrected...
