Disaster at Victoria’s Secret Show as Katy Perry and Gigi Hadid Are Banned From China
This is not looking good for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
Though she previously announced she would be walking this year, Gigi Hadid just revealed she’s not able to make the trip over to Shanghai, China.
The supermodel broke the news to her fans on Thursday, November 16, much to their disappointment.
“I’m so bummed I won’t be able to make it to China this year,” she wrote on Twitter.
Im so bummed I wont be able to make it to China this year. Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!! Can't wait to tune in with everyone to see the beautiful show I know it will be, and already can't wait for next year! :) xGigi Hadid (@GiGiHadid) November 16, 2017
“Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!! Can’t wait to tune in with everyone to see the beautiful show I know it will be, and already can’t wait for next year! X."
Some believe the reason the 22-year-old isn’t going is due to a racially insensitive Snapchat video she posted earlier this year.
In the video, she appeared to mock Asian facial features. Though she did apologize, it received major backlash.
Meanwhile, the blonde beauty isn’t the only star who reportedly won’t be able to make the trip over to China.
New reports claim Katy Perry has also been banned and won’t be able to perform at the show.
According to Page Six, the “Roar” hitmaker tried applying for a visa, but was denied.
Many believe it’s because she wore a bright dress with sunflowers during a performance in Taipei, Taiwan back in 2015.
The dress caused serious problems because the sunflower had been used by anti-China protesters just the year before.
“She was initially granted a visa to perform at the VS show in Shanghai, then Chinese officials changed their minds and yanked her visa,” a source shared.
“For every artist who wants to perform in China, officials comb through their social-media and press reports to see if they have done anything deemed to be offensive to the country.”
The source continued, “Maroon 5 was banned a few years ago because one band member wished the Dalai Lama happy birthday on Twitter.”
Woah, this is intense. Who do you think will take her place? Sound off below!
