Tonight (January 6) marks the official premiere of Juan Pablo Galavis’s season of The Bachelor, and if ABC’s sneak peek is to believed, we’re in for the usual drama in exotic locales — with an added bonus of Latin spice, courtesy of our handsome Venezuelan. And while Juan’s accent may have initially grabbed our attention last season, it was his devotion to 4-year-old daughter Camila that really won him that coveted title of Bachelor.
It’s not unheard of for a Bachelor or Bachelorette to bring their young child on their season: Jason Mesnick included his son, Ty, on Season 13 of The Bachelor; and who could forget Emily Maynard’s sweet, sweet girl, Ricki, on Season 8 of The Bachelorette. But should Juan Pablo follow in their footsteps and feature Camila this season, or would he be better to keep her away from the limelight?
That’s the question Wetpaint asked Viggle LIVE! users during last night’s (January 5) preview episode of The Bachelor: The Countdown to Juan Pablo, and almost two-thirds of voters came down on the same side for this one.
It seems that viewers were okay with the way Jason’s season was handled, as 62 percent said that yes, Camila should get some screen-time on this season of the ABC reality show. Meanwhile, only 38 percent would prefer that Juan Pablo keep his daughter off the show, feeling that it would be exploiting a minor.
As long as the producers keep things tasteful, we can’t imagine that a little father-daughter screen time would hurt. Plus, those ladies that aren’t there for the “right reasons” need a reminder about what this show is really about: finding a wife for Juan — and a step-mom for Camila.
Follow Juan Pablo’s journey to love on the all-new season of The Bachelor on Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
